Last and Final call for…

3 October 2009

Continuing the chain of thought with my type A behavior, if you thought the Calgary flight is the only flight I missed..you be down right wrong!!! On the other hand I have gotten lucky more than once, in being the last person in to the plane….This happened recently, I was flying from San Jose to Seattle. As usual when I left for airport in the morning, I thought I had all the time in the world, and I can afford a little luxury, take my time and so on. This despite a friendly reminder from a buddy of mine to leave early. I reach the airport and guess what, big lineup for security checkup..people snaking all the way up to the curbside ..I started thinking, where the heck are these people going, I was expecting a smooth sailing here…

Finally reached the departure gate and I hear the announcement “last and final call for Niraj Prasad..”, my heart starts to beat little faster, I am almost there, but can I make it? Actually there was one other guy running late, so that made two of us. The air hostess at the gate, radioed the pilot can he take these two (latecomer) guys? To our luck the pilot said yes and I literally found myself running into the tarmac! I expressed my thanks to the staff to let me in…literally minutes prior to the take off. …And then there was that other time, yours truly had to catch a plane from San Francisco to New York, by the time I reached the gate and asked the staff, the plane was already on the run way making its final run :-(

Well that’s life and if one plane is missed , another one will come, what is the hurry…right? It is far more important not to miss the crucial planes in your life and I don’t mean in literal terms but in figurative terms..in that sense plane is just a microcosm of life…you don’t let the plane get away from you… similarly you don’t let the life get away from you. In that vain, I would like to add lets not let the life drift away, let us do something meaningful, something worthwhile, something you will be fondly remembered for..long after you are gone…agreed?

Counting Blessings!

13 July 2008

This weekend, I started thinking about how many people count blessings in life! I read somewhere sort of a satire – In heaven there were two lines- one was very small and the other one was very long. This person starts wondering why the two lines are of different sizes, he gets the answer. One line is for people who have complaints with their lives and the second line is for those who want to just count their blessing and say thank you for whatever they have gotten so far. Guess which line was way longer- yep, the one where people where putting in their complaints, no takers for the other line! This is very true, I just don’t want to forget it. Yep there are challenges in life, yep it could throw a curve ball once in a while, but we should never forget all the goodness that is out there. A friend you can always trust and call in the middle of night! Your loving parents- and I am blessed to have my mom and dad who totally adore me- thanks mom and dad for always being there for me! I have two lovely kids, who are growing up, but they have the uncanny ability to know when their dad is going through challenges and when he is on a roll! I attended the elementary school graduation of one of my kid and one of his classmate gets up and makes a speech thanking their parents. She says- we are pre-teen today, growing up fast, but we will never be old enough to hug our parents and ask them how their day went!I was touched. I am blessed to have my kids in my life!

I want to thank all my friend who are in my buddy list of my instant messaging client. Occasional hello/hi from them, can lift the mood and give me the needed break I so badly need some time. I am blessed to have mostly trust worthy clients in my business dealings and would like to thank them right here! I have grown with them, I have enriched myself with valuable experience and would always remember their gratitude and would like to reciprocate with my unconditional support for them whenever they need me. I would like to thank my role models, my mentors, my teachers, I have copied a great deal from these guys and benefited every step of my way! Yep I have a long list of people I want to thank for whatever I am today! I am surely headed for that smaller line and count my blessings!
