Longhorn preview at Mountain View, California
I recently attended the Longhorn preview at Mountain View , California campus of Microsoft. The code-name Longhorn will eventually ship as Windows Server 2008.
Security seemed to be a major focus, secure by design. The presenter also talked about the power of IIS 7.
Cardsapace, Windows Workflow, Virtualization, Windows Powershell were presented as some of the key features of the new operating system.
I am particularly interested in the new filtering platform they were talking about. This new filtering platform lets you attach your own firewall instead of the default windows firewall, same deal with antivirus. I am wondering if the same can be extended to other filtering kind of applications like realtime encryption etc. If so, how much customization can one do in terms of filtering by program name, user name etc.
