What is hot in CES 2010

By nirajpd - Posted on 15 January 2010

The CES 2010 which was kicked off early this year in 2010 introduced some key technologies to the market place. These included eReaders, 3D TV, Green Technologies and Tablet PCs. The Ereader market was already very heated what with  Amazon decalring Kindle as the hottest gadget selling on its web site. Similarly rumor is swirling on a tablet PC being launched by Apple later this month. Around the same time Gogole anonced its own plan to enter into hardware bsuiness by launching Nexus One smart phone. This is all very good for consumers who will have a much wider choice in terms technology tailor made for them!

Although I have already baught a Kindle and my electronic library boasts of some 20 odd titles, I don't think I am done yet.  I can foresee this being a standard item for students in the future. My two kids are going to need it...sooner rather than later..might I add. With taht in mind, I am still watching this space closely, Barnes and Nobles already  have an eReader called Nook whcih is sold out, Sony has launched its own eReader and new kid on the block is Plastic Logic. This new company has spent a lot of money in R & D and is supposed to be very unique in this space, although at an entry price point of $549 it may not become a mass item yet ( compared to $259  one pays for the KIndle).

On thr 3D TV front LG, Panasonic , Sony , Samsung all are prmising future releases, in fact  Panasonic has already started shipping VT 25. Just like in tehatres you are going to need special glasses to watch these 3D programming. 3D Blue Ray players are also about to hit the market.. I can already see a 3D future for home entertainment, good stuff!! I wouln't have to go to an IMAX theatre to watch Avatar!!

Here's hoping 2010 marks the resurgence of Technology and we see a wave of innovation benefiting the man kind!

Cloud Computing sticky icon

Cloud Computing is the sun rise field everyone is talking about. Talk to us about what exactly can cloud computing do for you. What are the challenges facing a cloud computing strategy? What are the security risk involved, what kind of encryption can be done while your confidential data stays in the cloud? What are private clouds and so on.

Wish list for a new Computer

Obviously my bread and butter depends on a computer, so I like nothing but the very best when it comes to a computer for myself! So what is in my wishlist for a new computer, what new features should it have compared to the last one I had? Well you don't have to guess, here is my wish list:

1)DDR2 RAM is passé, time to move on to DDR3, and given that 4GB is so commonplace these days, nothing less than 8GB for me. ( Note that 32 bit operating system can only address up to 4GB of RAM, so anything above $4GB RAM will require a 64bit OS).

Moving to Drupal

We have moved our company website to Drupal, seems great so far!  I must admit, the decision to move to Drupal was widely influenced by White Houses's decision to move to Drupal. If it is safe enough for White House, it is safe enough for us! Although we did consider Joomla also for the site.
